Let me tell you who I am. I am Marie Otigba, British citizen, born in Newcastle upon Tyne if I may proudly add, resident of London, with no affiliation to the US whatsoever. Like most Britons I have always been aware of what goes on in the States and have visited there, most recently in 1996. I started to become interested in American history while carrying out research for a previous book, The Bishop Anyogu, when I discovered that my ancestors had been instrumental in stopping slavery following Abraham Lincoln’s cotton embargo in 1863 – which started me off as an author.
I studied at Northumberland University and obtained an MBA at the Middlesex University in London England.
My other interests include walking and engaging with the various Lord George Gordon Byron poetry community.
I work in finance and live in Muswell Hill London, United Kingdom with my son Edward and nephew Joshua.
